She said: So yesterday I was talking to my neighbor across the street. We both have toddlers so we are outside in the afternoons all the time. She informed me that over 16 garages in our neighborhood were vandalized last night. The downspouts were torn off of all of them. We do not have a garage, but this still makes me so mad. Why are people so stupid, rude and overall mean?
I thought, well I guess they are doing it to get money, but why not do something else, like work? What a great idea, right?
Here's what makes me even more mad. I live in the city and I LOVE the city. Husband and I are committed to bringing up our toddler in the city because all it has to offer. I know the comments that I will get from people (friends and family) after they hear what happened to the garages in the neighborhood: Well of course that happened, you live in the city. That comment will make me even more mad. You know what, this kind of thing happens everywhere, so screw you and your non-city life.
Sorry to vent....

I completely understand. I live in the city. When my fiance (who also happens to be gone during the week, every week) and I first started dating, he used to ask me, all the time: "Why do you like living in the City again?" It really ticks me off. Fortunately, he's really the only person I know who says things like this to me.
I really haven't had anything happen here in the city, that I haven't heard of happening (or have had happen to me) in the county.
We live near Tower Grove and Jeff's parents are convinced we're in the ghetto.
Congrats to you for staying in the city once you started your family; that's when most leave.
